Kierra Sheard: Early life and achievements

“Kiki” Sheard is the best gospel singer, radio show host, and fashion designer in the world. Her real name is Kierra Valencia. Kierra Sheard is a member of a group of people called “Millennials.”

The Millennial generation is made up of people who did grow up with computers, the internet, and social networks.

They grew up hearing ”Follow your dreams” and also being told they are indeed special, so they tend to be self-assured and accepting of others who are different.

Karen Clark-Sheard is her mother. She is a gospel singer who is better known for her job with the Clark Sisters. And his father’s name is Bishop J. Drew Sheard.

Her grandmother, Mattie Moss Clark, was a respected & influential choral director.

Sheard’s first paid recording was on her mother’s first solo album, Finally, when she was only nine years old (1997).

The Stellar Award for Best Children’s Performance went to the song “The Will of God.” Sheard sang in the background for her mother, her aunt Dorinda Clark-Cole, and the Clark Sisters for the next few years.

Musical Career

Sheard was on Clark-self-titled Cole’s first album, which came out in 2002. In 2003, she sang “You Loved Me,” a gospel version of Jill Scott’s “He Loves Me,” on her mom’s third album, The Heavens Are Telling.

She also sang ”Don’t Change”; with J Moss.

That same year, Sheard was signed by EMI Gospel after a bidding war between several record companies.

Sheard secured a record deal with the EMI Gospel in 2003, and I Owe You, her debut solo album, was released in the month of September 2004.

The record was highly received by both critics and purchasers. It topped a gospel album list and debuted at number 29 on the R&B/hip-hop album chart. Just Until, a compilation of remixes, was released in August 2005. Godson Complex’s “Let Go” which was remixed for the album, became a huge hit in Japan.

Sheard worked on her new album, This Is Me, right after she graduated from high school. When it came out on June 27, 2006, it went straight to the top of the Billboard Top Gospel Albums chart.

The mid-tempo fan favorite ”Why Me?” was produced by Fred Jerkins III and picked as the first single for the album. Sheard made her first music videos for the songs “Yes” and ”This Is Me,’‘ which were the next two singles from the album.

In December 2006, the album was up for the Grammy Award for Best Contemporary R&B Gospel Album.

In 2008, Sheard sang on Mary Mary’s hit “God in Me,” which was on their album The Sound. “God in Me” was the first song by Sheard to be on the US Hot 100, in which it reached its highest position at number 68.

The single ended up breaking the Billboard records for the longest chart run by a group and the longest chart run by a gospel song just on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, where it stayed for 74 weeks and reached number 5. “God in Me” was also a big hit on Billboard’s Dance Club’s Hot Gospel Songs charts, where it reached number one and stayed there for seven weeks.

Sheard’s third album, “Bold Right Life”, was released in October 2008. Billboard called the album a “powerful mix of R&B/hip-hop, pop, rock, and traditional gospel.”

The album was named after Sheard’s youth group in Detroit. “Praise Him Now” & “Won’t Hold Back” were the first two singles from the album. “Praise Him Now” got to number 7 on the American Hot Gospel Songs chart, and “Love Like Crazy” got to number 7 on the Japan Hot 100 to become Sheard’s second Japanese hit.

Sheard sang “Jesus Is a Love Song” by the Clark Sisters at the BMI Trailblazers Luncheon in January 2009 to honor her aunt, Elbernita “Twinkie” Clark.

KiKi’s Mixtape, a collection of songs by Sheard, came out on September 22, 2009, the same year.

In 2010, Sheard got small parts in Preacher’s Kid & Blessed and Cursed, two movies with Christian themes. On her fourth real album, Free, which came out in 2011, she switched to Karew Records, which had been home to the Clark Sisters & Karen Clark-Sheard for a long time.

The BRL Choir, which stands for “Bold Right Life” and works with Kierra, also made its debut on the record.

In April 2013, the reality shows The Sheards made its debut on the cable network BET. It showed what the Clark & Sheard families did, both on and off the stage.

Graceland, Sheard’s fifth album, came out in July 2014 and then became her fourth number-one gospel album. In November 2015, LED, an EP with eight songs, came out.

The singer also made an appearance on the 2018 EP A Karew Family Christmas.

Her sixth full-length album was just called “Kierra” and it had guests like Tasha Cobbs Leonard and Todd Dulaney. It went straight to the top of the gospel music charts, ending Kanye West’s Jesus Is King’s six-month run at the top.

Kierra Sheard’s Controversies and Allegations

The most difficult time that Kierra Sheard faced in her life was when her mother was ill. She was very close to her mother and she loved her very much.

Every believer needs to seek God with all their heart to get stronger, and gospel musician Kierra Sheard says she learned to do this during a hard time.

Kierra Sheard almost lost her mother, the GRAMMY® Award-winning singer Karen Clark Sheard, when she was only 14 years old. This did teach her how and when to storm Heaven’s gates on her own.

She said, “It made me get down on my legs and go to God for myself” Kierra’s mother, who is the founding woman of Greater Emmanuel Institutional Church of God, went in for a small surgery.

Her mother said, “I started to feel something in my lungs, and I couldn’t breathe.

I found it hard to breathe. So I pretty much passed out on the bed, and they found a blood clot in my lungs that was moving toward my heart”.

Clark Sheard, who was 56, fell into a coma and was given only a 2% chance of survival.

First Lady Sheard was in such bad shape for so long that she had to relearn how to move and think. “I love her, and I’m glad for her. I’m thankful she is with us.“ Kierra said in an interview before.
