matt redman gospel singer

Matt Redman is a singer, songwriter, author, and English Christian worship leader from England who now lives in Brighton, East Sussex, UK. He is a trustee of Compassionate, a charity started by another musician, Martin Smith. He has continued to work with Hillsong London and has taken part in several Passion Conference events.

Matt Redman Early life and achievements

Redman was brought up in the English city of Watford. When he was two years old, his family moved to a tiny commuter town called Chorleywood.

When he was only seven years old his father died. His mother raised him and his brother most of the time. Later, he got married into an abusive relationship, which hurt the whole family a lot.

He got married to Beth Redman, who was also an author and songwriter.

Redman converted to Christianity at the age of ten.

He went to St. Andrew’s Chorleywood in Hertfordshire right after attending a mission service by Luis Palau at the QPR football stadium in London. Mike Pilavachi, an Anglican church youth leader, pushed him to conduct worship when he was a teenager.

He was taught to play the guitar there. When he was 20, he began leading religious services and put out his first album. Along with his pastor, Mike Pilavachi, Redman helped start Soul Survivor in 1993.

Soul Survivor is a worldwide Christian movement and an annual music festival for young people. In Watford, England, from 1994 to 2002, Redman led worship at the Soul Survivor Church.

People all over the world like his songs and have been moved by his songs. His music has been recorded by well-known artists like Rebecca St. James and Michael W. Smith.

He led a generation of worshipers. Redman is dedicated to the role that God has provided him as an inspiration in places of worship all over the world.

He has become one of the most important artists of this generation, whether it’s because he writes new songs for religious services or because he helps train new composers and worship leaders.

Redman moved to Brighton in 2002 after taking a year’s vacation to record “Where Angels Fear to Tread” in the US. In 2004, he & his wife moved to The Point, a church in West Sussex. It was led by a pastor named Will Kemp.

In 2008, Redman moved to Atlanta, Georgia, with his wife Beth & their three children to help Louie Giglio and Chris Tomlin start Passion City Church. In August 2010, they took their kids back to the UK.

In January and February 1994, Matt went to ICC studios to record his first album, Wake Up My Soul. Mike Haughton of Iona, Martin Neil on percussion, Adrian Thompson of Split Level, Helen Burgess, and Les Moir on bass, as well as Martin Smith, who produced the album, were just a few of the great Christian musicians who played on it.

Matt Redman’s music is light and passionate, and it’s even better to know that he keeps writing his songs, which is something that not many pop artists do.

He surprised the CCM market in 1998 with The Friendship and the Fear, which showed that he could sing well and write songs that made people think.

“Blessed Be Your Name,” which won the 2002 Dove Award for Worship Song of the Year, and “Our God,” which was up for a Grammy Award, were written by Redman and his wife Beth in 2002. And since then, Matt and Beth have written a few of Redman’s most popular songs together, like “You Never Let Go,” “Face Down,” & “Let My Words Be Few.”

Redman recorded his 2011 live album, 10,000 Reasons, with Chris Tomlin, Louie Giglio, Nathan and Christy Nockels, and others at LIFT – A Worship Leader Collective in February 2011. On July 28, 2012, the title track of Redman’s new album, “10,000 Reasons (Bless the Lord”), was at the top of the Billboard Christian Album charts, where it remained for 13 weeks.

It was his first No. 1 song on contemporary Christian radio in the United States. The single went on to win two Grammys, for Best Contemporary Christian Music Song & Contemporary/Best Gospel Christian Music Performance, and was certified Gold by the RIAA in 2018. Matt has also gained thirteen Dove Awards from the Gospel Music Association.

The album did well right after Matt Redman and LZ7, a Christian hip hop and urban music group from Manchester, put out the track “Twenty Seven Million” on February 27, 2012, to bring attention to the movement against human trafficking.

Contemporary Christian music (CCM) artists such as Michael W. Smith, Matt Maher, Kutless, Stellar Kart, Jeremy Camp, Chris Tomlin, Rebecca St. James, David Crowder Band, Tree63, and Hillsong United have covered Redman’s songs. He has collaborated frequently with Christian musicians such as Chris Tomlin & Tim Hughes.

Redman stated in 2019 that he had contracted with Integrity Music and would release new music in late 2019 and the latest album in 2020.

He has written and edited numerous publications about Christian worship, such as The Unquenchable Worshipper and Facedown, the book that accompanied the record of the same name.

He and his spouse co-wrote the book “Blessed Be Your Name” to encourage others to have faith in God and his goodness in all circumstances.

Controversies and allegations against Matt Redman

It is a hard time that polishes us, and we stand with more passion and courage after falling. The same is the case with the famous gospel singer Matt Redman. He faced many problems in his childhood. His father died when he was a child.

“I had a tough upbringing,” Redman said, trying to explain that his dad died when he was only seven years old. His stepdad and the five Redman siblings did not get along well.

He said, “I learned that everything the Bible says about God is true.” “The Psalms say that he is a father to people who don’t have one. Those hard times made my faith in God stronger. “

Faith, as well as the cross, are recurring ideas in his songs.

“That’s what I’ve always tried to do as a songwriter: go back to the past of Jesus as well as try to look at it from a different angle.”

But his songs aren’t so much about suffering and pain as they are about getting through it.

“When hard times come, we can choose to be bitter and complain instead of putting our trust in God,” he said.

Matt Redman faced every problem head-on and never gave up. He’s what he’s today just because of his faith in God and his hard work.
