The gospel singer was raised in Chicago, Illinois, USA. He is 46 years old. Shust grew up in Pennsylvania, not far from Pittsburgh. While he was in college, he started singing in churches and coffeehouses.
At age 4, he sang his first solo at a church show. He played sports and also sang bass in a competitive chorus in high school. Shust went to Toccoa Falls College in Georgia, where he majored in music education and planned to teach high school chorus. He did this to keep his love of music alive.
Shust started writing songs while he was in college, but he didn’t start performing them till after he graduated. Then, in 1999, he was asked to become a full-time worship leader at Perimeter Church in Atlanta.
So, Shust agreed to record some tracks in the basement of a church member. He planned to make only 2,000 copies of the album, which he planned to sell in the bookstore at his church and from the trunk of the car. During this recording process, Shust had a moment that changed his life. He says that he remembers thinking,
“Someone might review this album, and I’m not sure that’s what I want. I’m not sure if it’s good enough to put on a shelf. I’m not sure if it’s good enough for anyone to like. “
And what a journey it’s been. A little album that he didn’t think was “good enough for anyone to like” went on to sell over 200,000 copies as well as counting. And Shust took three birds with her when she left this year’s Dove Awards.

But even with all of that, I think it means that individuals have said, “We like your song.” “We think you’re a good singer, “which means I fooled them.” They must not have been to any of my concerts, or they wouldn’t have put me up for “Male Vocalist.” Even though he was joking, Shust was glad to hear that.
Shust’s first live album, Love Made a Way, came out on March 10, 2017. It was made by Nathan Nockels. The album, “You Redeem,” “Belong,” an album version of his 2004 song “My Savior, My God,” and a radio version of “Resurrecting” were all released as singles.
